Economic Rebound in Equine Practice is Real

The Merck-Henry Schein National Equine Veterinary Economic Study collected data from members of the American Association of Equine Practitioners for the years 2007 through 2012.  There was strong evidence that the equine veterinary economy went through a significant downturn in 2008, 2009, and 2010, but rebounded in 2011 and 2012.  Though not back to its pre-recession levels, there was solid evidence that practices are coming back.  See the chart below.

 

Also, from a management persepective, make sure to review Part 1 of the results of the study and note the similarity of this chart to similar charts for number of patients, number of clients, and number of invoices.  It is important to understand what drives revenues and these charts help to illustrate measurables that drive revenues.
