Leadership is everything. Without strong leadership, any orgranization or team will fail. Chaos, indecision, inertia, and conflict will be the result. So, how do you succeed as a leader?
Successful leaders surround themselves with people who are smarter, more capable, and more effective than themselves. They then empower and mentor these people to grow and become great leaders themselves. How may times have you seen an organization that seemingly has all the opportunity to be great, but they never deliver? What is missing? Many times, the organization is missing effective leadership. Many ineffective leaders repeatedly select people for their teams that are obviously less qualified than the leader of the group. This habit results in mediocrity and less than desirable results. The person who selects team members who are less capable than they are has an aversion or fear of hiring people who might be seen as a threat to their position with the team.
Avoid this fear. Select the best people every time and do everything you can to mentor them to become an even better leader than you. You will see your organization soar to new heights. And you will be revered by many great future leaders who will in turn bring great opportunities back to you and your business.
